How in the world do these stores make money? It seems that they're always running big sales on all of their merchandise. I realize their prices are a little high to start with, but when they're selling merchandise for 30-50% off, they can't be making very much.

The clothes at Goody's never ring up at the price on the tag. It's always lower. Haven't quite figured that one out...

the majority of things they are selling are "warehouse" items.. "over-produced" products.. I may be wrong, but I have never went in to one of those stores, saw something I liked, came home and been able to find it on that clothing companies website as new...
not saying it's bad and such, but I think that's how they cover the cost(s) etc.. the fragrances are about the right price though..
plus, they get so much percentage back a year on how much they sell.. not losing anything
Slave labor...60 Mins did a show on jeans once, and the death of the US garment industry. Guy was in China and the sign , in english said something like, Levis jeans factory #31" with some Chinese stuff written on a much older sign just across the road from them . The guy asked about the "plant" and the host told him what was on the sign... then the gent from the show said I read Chinese and the sign on the other side of the road says "#31 men's prison, what about that- you aren't using prison labor to undercut jobs in our country are you?" Which got a hand over the camera and a screaming of "no-mo questions!"
